Living in Belville -the reality

With a population of 3,183, Belville is a small town. Am I wrong here?

I work in marketing here and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The job market for my field is better than expected. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Maple Ridge. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like seafood.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value community vibe, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Cedar Grove) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Chicago, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
