Remote worker thinking about Benbrook

Been living here since 2007. Household incomes average around $82,148 in Benbrook. Homes are going for about $278,200 on average. The median home value here is around $278,200, which seems about average. You can expect to pay around $1,457 for rent here. Median household income is $82,148, which feels pretty solid for the area. The weather takes some getting used to. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Midtown. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in consulting. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like seafood.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Portland about 12 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Decent public transit for the size
- Active local events and festivals

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are established, gas is solid.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Feel free to reach out with questions..
