Best neighborhoods in Bend for families?

We have two kids (5 and 6) and are looking for a family-friendly neighborhood in Bend. Budget is around $1767/month for rent. We prioritize good schools and safety. Any recommendations?

Also, are there good parks and activities for kids in the area?

As someone who moved here from Houston, I can confirm most of this. The cost of living surprised me the most.

Public transit needs work but they're investing in it. Should improve in next few years.

Been here 20 years. The city has changed a lot but overall for the better.

I'd add that healthcare options are better than most cities this size. Otherwise spot on!

Don't sleep on Pine Grove. It's up and coming and still affordable.

Totally agree with this. I've been here 6 years and my experience is very similar.

I've lived in University District for 2 years and it's decent, has its pros and cons.

Good summary. I'd rate it higher personally — maybe 8/10.

Weather is the biggest factor for us. Four seasons are nice, not too extreme either way.

Traffic is the worst part honestly. But if you live near work it's fine.
