Top 5 things I love about Bend

So, I'm a college student here and Poverty rate is 5.7%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $1,767/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 49--F, so expect cold winters. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Pros:
- Lots of new development
- Walkable downtown
- Good internet infrastructure
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Hot summers
- Cold winters
- Far from major airports
Thanks in advance! The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The city has invested a lot in new development. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Bought a house here in 2021 and it's exactly what I was looking for. Property values have gone up significantly since then.
