Hey folks, Crime rate is something to consider -Benicia sits at 56.2 per 100K. With a population of 26,861, Benicia is a smaller city. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The city has invested a lot in new development. Am I overthinking this? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Eastside. It's decent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in education you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: average. Tons of options if you like sushi.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

Weather-wise, the summers are surprisingly good and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.

I've been living here for 9 years and I'd say I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The cost of living is tough compared to other places I've lived. Overall No regrets on my end..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in South. It's excellent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in education. If you're in consulting you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Mexican.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

Hot take but it's not perfect but it works for me. I know a lot of people disagree but after 6 years here, that's my honest assessment.

We moved here with our family and it was the best decision I ever made. Schools in Old Town area are underrated. Kids love it here.
