Thinking about relocating to Bensenville from Dallas

Hey everyone, I'm retired and It's a a small town city with about 18,576 people. With a population of 18,576, Bensenville is a small town. Average temperature is around 51--F, so expect cold winters. You can expect to pay around $1,374 for rent here. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Would love some local perspective. Cheers. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Came here for quality of life and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The walkability is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a sales manager, 25, moved here 1 years ago from Charlotte. I've lived in West and Sunset, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Close to major attractions
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Can feel isolated
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The dating scene situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- West: Great for singles. improving vibes, walkable.
- Sunset: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Charlotte, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $40K-$90K here.

**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are excellent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 15 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the East side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..
