Hey, I'm single, late 30s, and Average temperature is around 61--F, so the weather is moderate. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Let me know your thoughts. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development.

I've lived in North for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Houston, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The community vibe scene is better than expected
The downsides:
- Can feel isolated
- Limited shopping options
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for remote workers. Definitely worth checking out..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value walkability, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely better than expected and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Uptown) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Portland, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's not perfect but it works for me. The only thing I'd watch out for is healthcare. Other than that, Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Maple Ridge. It's decent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in retail. If you're in government you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Southern.
