What to expect moving to Benson?

Curious what people think. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Would love some local perspective.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely better than expected and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (East) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Pittsburgh, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

We moved here with our family and the quality of life is solid. Schools in Fairview area are solid. Kids love it here.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a nurse who relocated here from Houston about 1 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Strong job market in several industries
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are reasonable, gas is excellent.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
