Not sure if this has been asked before, but We're a young couple and Homes are going for about $199,400 on average. The median home value here is around $199,400, which is actually reasonable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. What would you do? Thanks in advance! Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The weather takes some getting used to. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

I've lived in Pine Hills for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Decent public transit for the size
- The community vibe scene is excellent
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Bugs and humidity in summer

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a project manager, 24, moved here 1 years ago from Austin. I've lived in Uptown and Oak Park, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Good schools in most areas
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Nightlife is limited
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The housing market situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Uptown: Great for singles. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- Oak Park: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Austin, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $100K-$140K here.
**Final verdict:**

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.
I've been here 10 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into running, this place is hit or miss.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
