Quick question about Benton

Curious what people think. Rent is about $776/month for a decent place.

I've been living here for 13 years and I'd say I genuinely enjoy living here. The healthcare is challenging compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I genuinely enjoy living here. Internet is excellent in most areas.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely challenging and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Westside) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Denver, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Compared to Seattle it's excellent.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.

I've been here 4 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Maple Ridge. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in tech. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..
