Moving to Berea for work -advice?

My family moved here when I was a kid. Poverty rate is 17.1%, which is higher than I expected. With a population of 15,557, Berea is a small town. Homes are going for about $178,000 on average. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Has anyone dealt with this? The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Came here for retirement and stayed because it's been a really good experience overall. The safety is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's exactly what I was looking for. The only thing I'd watch out for is housing market. Other than that, Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

We moved here with our family and it was the best decision I ever made. Schools in West area are underrated. Kids love it here.
