Hey, I'm a college student here and Poverty rate is 3.4%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $2,127/month for a decent place. Household incomes average around $108,558 in Berkeley. Median household income is $108,558, which feels pretty solid for the area. It's a a mid-size city city with about 120K people. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development.
