Hey folks, Poverty rate is 3.4%, which is pretty low. Average temperature is around 57°F, so the weather is moderate. You can expect to pay around $2,127 for rent here. With a population of 120K, Berkeley is a mid-size city. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Looking forward to hearing from you all.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.
I've been here 1 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is challenging.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Oak Park side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I love the pace of life here. Internet is hit or miss in most areas.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is outdoor recreation. I love the pace of life here. Worth doing your research before committing.
