Working remotely from Berkeley — my experience

I've been working remotely from Berkeley for 14 years now. Here's my take:

The pace of life here is perfect for remote work. No crazy commute stress, affordable living, and enough amenities to not feel isolated.

Cost of living: a bit high but manageable
Internet: Decent, getting better with new providers
Coworking spaces: A few good ones downtown

If you're looking for a place to WFH, Berkeley is underrated for remote workers.

Respectfully disagree about the cost of living assessment. In my experience, it's been pretty safe in my area.

Weather is the biggest factor for us. Four seasons are nice, not too extreme either way.

Great post! One thing I'd mention is check out the local Facebook groups for neighborhood info. Makes a big difference.

If you can afford it, Pine Grove is the best place to live. Period.

Check out the Westside area. Way more affordable and still close to everything.
