Best and worst neighborhoods in Berkeley

Anyone else feel this way? Rent is about $1,292/month for a decent place. Crime rate is something to consider -Berkeley sits at 118.7 per 100K. Average temperature is around 51--F, so expect cold winters. Household incomes average around $83,224 in Berkeley. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Pros:
- Great weather
- Close to nature
- Walkable downtown
- Plenty of shopping options

Cons:
- Rising rent prices
- Sprawl everywhere
- Few job opportunities in some fields
- Poor road conditions
The weather takes some getting used to. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The city has invested a lot in new development. As someone who grew up here, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. A lot has changed in the past few years though. public transit used to be much manageable but now it's underrated.

Came here for family and stayed because it exceeded my expectations. The school system is honestly decent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
