My family moved here when I was a kid. Average temperature is around 74--F, so it's warm year-round. Poverty rate is 4.7%, which is pretty low. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. What neighborhoods would you suggest?

Weather-wise, the summers are hit or miss and winters are reasonable. You get used to it after the first year.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Lakewood. It's solid for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in government. If you're in real estate you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: average. Tons of options if you like Italian.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

We moved here with our family and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Schools in Uptown area are better than expected. Kids love it here.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in North for 11 years. Moved from San Francisco for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is solid. We bought in 2017 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.
**Employment:**
government is strong here. consulting is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it's not perfect but it works for me. The outdoor scene is surprisingly good - we have rivers within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. North schools are surprisingly good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not a lot of cultural diversity. Chain restaurants dominate. And nightlife can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 8/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

The food scene here is improving. Tons of great craft beer places. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.
