Been meaning to ask this. Average temperature is around 56--F, so the weather is moderate. What are your go-to spots?

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely excellent and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Greenfield) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Seattle, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Chicago and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in West. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in marketing. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a teacher, 34, moved here 10 years ago from Baltimore. I've lived in Eastside and Highland, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Close to major attractions
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The traffic situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Eastside: Great for couples. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Highland: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Baltimore, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $100K-$90K here.

**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

If you value food scene, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely solid and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (North) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Chicago, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.

Came here for cost of living and stayed because the quality of life is solid. The dating scene is honestly pretty good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
