Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value community vibe, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely pretty good and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (The Heights) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Seattle, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you value school system, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely pretty good and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (North) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a sales manager, 36, moved here 9 years ago from Boston. I've lived in Midtown and Eastside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good internet infrastructure
2. Affordable housing options
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Not a lot of cultural diversity
3. The walkability situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Midtown: Great for young professionals. challenging vibes, walkable.
- Eastside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Boston, everything felt surprisingly good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $60K-$110K here.

**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

As someone who grew up here, it's been a really good experience overall. A lot has changed in the past few years though. pet-friendliness used to be much wild but now it's improving.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are solid, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.

I've been here 8 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

We moved here with our family and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Schools in North area are challenging. Kids love it here.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Nashville about 7 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Strong job market in several industries

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited high-paying job options

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are manageable, gas is pretty good.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Hope this helps!.
