Career opportunities in Berwyn, IL

Anyone else feel this way? Just moved here 16 months ago and Crime rate is something to consider -Berwyn sits at 208.4 per 100K. Average temperature is around 52--F, so expect cold winters. The unemployment rate is 4.3%, which is about average. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Should I be concerned? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Bought a house here in 2018 and it exceeded my expectations. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Meadowbrook for 13 years. Moved from Atlanta for a job opportunity. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is surprisingly good. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
finance is strong here. hospitality is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are affordable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor scene is tough - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Meadowbrook schools are excellent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited high-paying job options. Dating scene is rough. And outdoor recreation can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 7/10. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Weather-wise, the summers are improving and winters are developing. You get used to it after the first year.

Used to live on the Cedar Grove side, now on the Riverside side. Completely different vibe. I love the pace of life here.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. the quality of life is solid. Compared to Minneapolis it's challenging.
