Best and worst neighborhoods in Bethalto

Anyone else feel this way? I'm originally from Austin and Crime rate is something to consider -Bethalto sits at 107.9 per 100K. The median home value here is around $158,600, which is actually reasonable. Median household income is $66,469, which feels about average for the area. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in West. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in real estate. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Italian.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've lived in South for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Pittsburgh, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Active local events and festivals
- Close to major attractions
- The outdoor recreation scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for remote workers. Good luck with whatever you decide..

I work in education here and I have mixed feelings honestly. The job market for my field is surprisingly good. Definitely worth checking out..
