Commute times in Bethany -how bad?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I relocated for work and With a population of 31,700, Bethany is a smaller city. Rent is about $2,227/month for a decent place. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

I've lived in East for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Decent public transit for the size
- The traffic scene is underrated

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Road conditions need improvement

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for retirees. Definitely worth checking out..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.

I've been here 8 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Lakewood side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

I'm a physical therapist and I've found the quality of life is solid. The community is underrated and there's always something going on.
