Is Bethesda still affordable?

Been meaning to ask this. We're a young couple and Rent is about $2,437/month for a decent place. You can expect to pay around $2,437 for rent here. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Does this match your experience?

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's not perfect but it works for me. Internet is challenging in most areas.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Compared to Dallas it's better than expected.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want healthcare, then yeah this place is great. But if food scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a accountant who relocated here from Raleigh about 3 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Affordable housing options
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are stable, gas is decent.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Feel free to reach out with questions..
