Hey everyone, Just moved here 10 months ago and You can expect to pay around $1,311 for rent here. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

My experience has been mostly positive. I'm still on the fence after all this time. The only thing I'd watch out for is public transit. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..

We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in Meadowbrook area are challenging. Kids love it here.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a accountant who relocated here from Charlotte about 4 years ago. The main reasons were weather and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good healthcare facilities
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Rising rent and home prices

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are reasonable, gas is tough.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Definitely worth checking out..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want job market, then yeah this place is great. But if cultural scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in South. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in finance. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Italian.

Definitely worth checking out..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a writer, 51, moved here 14 years ago from Austin. I've lived in East and Riverside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Four distinct seasons
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Nightlife is limited
2. Limited high-paying job options
3. The healthcare situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- East: Great for remote workers. underrated vibes, walkable.
- Riverside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Austin, everything felt improving. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $40K-$150K here.

**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely underrated and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (East) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from LA, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Pittsburgh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Uptown. It's better than expected for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in finance. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value school system, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely solid and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (North) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Austin, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in East for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Salt Lake City, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Decent public transit for the size
- The cultural scene scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Rising rent and home prices

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for young professionals. Happy to answer more specific questions..
