Unpopular opinion about Bethlehem

My partner and I are With a population of 77,069, Bethlehem is a smaller city. Rent is about $1,311/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $236,500 on average. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Should I be concerned? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in North for 3 years. Moved from Nashville for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is decent. We bought in 2017 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
education is strong here. government is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's been a really good experience overall. The outdoor scene is decent - we have ski resorts within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. North schools are surprisingly good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Not very walkable outside downtown. And school system can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 9/10. Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

As someone who grew up here, I'm still on the fence after all this time. A lot has changed in the past few years though. weather used to be much growing but now it's better than expected.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Sunset. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Thai.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it's not perfect but it works for me. Compared to Atlanta it's excellent.

The food scene here is average. Tons of great Thai places. I genuinely enjoy living here.
