I've been here for 8 years and You can expect to pay around $2,805 for rent here. Homes are going for about $2,000,001 on average. The median home value here is around $2,000,001, which is pretty steep. Poverty rate is 5.8%, which is pretty low. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The city has invested a lot in new development. Am I wrong here? The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value school system, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely tough and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (Springfield) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Charlotte, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a writer who relocated here from Seattle about 8 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Lots of new development happening
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Limited high-paying job options
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are pricey, gas is tough.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Good luck with whatever you decide..

We moved here with our family and it's been a really good experience overall. Schools in Fairview area are average. Kids love it here.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's not perfect but it works for me. The only thing I'd watch out for is walkability. Other than that, No regrets on my end..

I'm a nurse who relocated here from Charlotte about 6 years ago. The main reasons were family and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited high-paying job options
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are competitive, gas is underrated.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Feel free to reach out with questions..
