Should I move to Beverly or stay in San Francisco?
Hey, The median home value here is around $621,900, which is pretty steep. Crime rate is something to consider -Beverly sits at 111.1 per 100K. With a population of 42,408, Beverly is a smaller city. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Let me know your thoughts. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Public transit is decent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it exceeded my expectations.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Chicago and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Fairview. It's decent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in finance. If you're in government you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.
Definitely worth checking out..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Compared to Portland it's average.

Bought a house here in 2018 and it exceeded my expectations. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Hot take but it exceeded my expectations. I know a lot of people disagree but after 15 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I work in marketing here and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The job market for my field is improving. No regrets on my end..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.
I've been here 6 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is decent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I have mixed feelings honestly. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want job market, then yeah this place is great. But if outdoor recreation matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Riverside for 13 years. Moved from Austin for work. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is improving. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.
**Employment:**
legal is strong here. education is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
the quality of life is solid. The outdoor scene is excellent - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Riverside schools are surprisingly good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Not very walkable outside downtown. And weather can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 7/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
