Cheapest neighborhoods in Biddeford?

Born and raised here. The median home value here is around $349,300, which seems about average. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 15 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the East side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a accountant who relocated here from New York about 4 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Four distinct seasons
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Chain restaurants dominate

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are established, gas is challenging.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've lived in Old Town for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Chicago, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The housing market scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Nightlife is limited

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for singles. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is excellent.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The pet-friendliness is genuinely tough and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Oak Park) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Denver, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are decent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
