Best restaurants in Big Bear City?

Curious what people think. My family moved here when I was a kid. Homes are going for about $427,700 on average. Median household income is $72,457, which feels about average for the area. Poverty rate is 11.0%, which is around average. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The suburbs are where most families end up. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Let me know your thoughts. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. The weather takes some getting used to. I'm a writer and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. The community is better than expected and there's always something going on.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it's exactly what I was looking for. Compared to Austin it's underrated.

Came here for school and stayed because it's exactly what I was looking for. The public transit is honestly underrated and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (The Heights) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in Springfield for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The safety scene is underrated

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Can feel isolated

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for singles. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Used to live on the Westside side, now on the Sunset side. Completely different vibe. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.
