Is Big Bend still affordable?

Hi all, Just moved here 1 months ago and Median household income is $136,042, which feels pretty solid for the area. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Anyone in a similar situation?

Public transit is improving here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I have mixed feelings honestly.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value weather, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely tough and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Pittsburgh, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
