Random thought, I work in logistics and Median household income is $82,648, which feels pretty solid for the area. The unemployment rate is 1.4%, which is pretty low. You can expect to pay around $1,103 for rent here. Homes are going for about $614,300 on average. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Any advice would be great. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The food scene here is surprisingly good. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a software engineer, 29, moved here 2 years ago from Minneapolis. I've lived in Highland and Cedar Grove, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Good healthcare facilities
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Nightlife is limited
3. The cost of living situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Highland: Great for families. tough vibes, walkable.
- Cedar Grove: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Minneapolis, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $80K-$90K here.
**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
