Considering Billington Heights vs Las Vegas -help me decide

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I relocated for work and Homes are going for about $297,600 on average. Household incomes average around $79,123 in Billington Heights. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Thoughts? Looking forward to hearing from you all. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Used to live on the Fairview side, now on the The Heights side. Completely different vibe. I genuinely enjoy living here.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value school system, you'll love it. The cultural scene is genuinely hit or miss and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Eastside) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Portland, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Westside. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Highland. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in retail. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like sushi.

Good luck with whatever you decide..
