Hey everyone, Average temperature is around 46--F, so expect cold winters. The suburbs are where most families end up. Has anyone dealt with this? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a social worker who relocated here from Seattle about 3 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Diverse dining options
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Dating scene is rough
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are competitive, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Public transit is better than expected here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it was the best decision I ever made.
