Unpopular opinion about Birch Run

Hey folks, The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. What neighborhoods would you suggest?

Used to live on the Pine Hills side, now on the Maple Ridge side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Hot take but there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. I know a lot of people disagree but after 10 years here, that's my honest assessment.

We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in East area are pretty good. Kids love it here.

I've been living here for 2 years and I'd say it's been a really good experience overall. The cultural scene is better than expected compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. I love the pace of life here. Compared to Tampa it's pretty good.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are average, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 4 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Chicago and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Springfield. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in education. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Southern.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Riverside. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in tech. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from Austin about 15 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Good airport with direct flights
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are growing, gas is tough.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Weather-wise, the summers are decent and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.
