Best areas to explore in Birmingham?

OK so Median household income is $153,125, which feels pretty solid for the area. The unemployment rate is 2.8%, which is pretty low. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a marketing manager, 28, moved here 1 years ago from Nashville. I've lived in Riverside and Meadowbrook, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Not very walkable outside downtown
3. The nightlife situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Riverside: Great for families. tough vibes, walkable.
- Meadowbrook: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Nashville, everything felt improving. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $100K-$90K here.

**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I love the pace of life here. Internet is hit or miss in most areas.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Eastside. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Asian.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in South. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in tech. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Korean.

Hope this helps!.
