Birmingham is underrated, change my mind

First post here. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.

I've been here 6 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Internet is better than expected in most areas.

I've lived in Midtown for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Close to major attractions
- The traffic scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited high-paying job options

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
