First post here. I relocated for work and The median home value here is around $291,400, which seems about average. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The suburbs are where most families end up. TIA! Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Public transit is underrated here. You'll probably need a car for most things. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value food scene, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely improving and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Riverside) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Hot take but I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. I know a lot of people disagree but after 6 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I've been living here for 13 years and I'd say it's improved dramatically in recent years. The healthcare is challenging compared to other places I've lived. Overall Hope this helps!.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Compared to Houston it's better than expected.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Compared to San Francisco it's solid.
