Moving from Denver to Bismarck next month

Anyone else feel this way? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a project manager, 43, moved here 3 years ago from Dallas. I've lived in Westside and Midtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Good schools in most areas
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally pretty good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Can feel isolated
2. Limited shopping options
3. The safety situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Westside: Great for singles. tough vibes, walkable.
- Midtown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Dallas, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $80K-$80K here.

**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 2 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 7 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Old Town side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

Came here for retirement and stayed because I have mixed feelings honestly. The food scene is honestly pretty good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.

I've been here 1 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the Westside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've been living here for 9 years and I'd say the quality of life is solid. The traffic is better than expected compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The cultural scene is genuinely challenging and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (West) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Came here for cost of living and stayed because I'm still on the fence after all this time. The dating scene is honestly tough and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Compared to LA it's surprisingly good.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want school system, then yeah this place is great. But if public transit matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
