Things Bismarck needs to improve

Hey folks, Been living here since 2012. Poverty rate is 6.3%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Bismarck sits at 305.2 per 100K. You can expect to pay around $992 for rent here. The unemployment rate is 2.3%, which is pretty low. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Pros:
- Good job market
- Close to nature
- Lots of new development
- Walkable downtown

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Sprawl everywhere
- Not very walkable
- Mosquitoes and humidity
What would you do? Looking forward to hearing from you all. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The city has invested a lot in new development. The weather takes some getting used to. The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

The food scene here is challenging. Tons of great farm-to-table places. it's exactly what I was looking for.

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Four distinct seasons
- The traffic scene is solid

The downsides:
- Dating scene is rough
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for families. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Weather-wise, the summers are solid and winters are manageable. You get used to it after the first year.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a accountant who relocated here from LA about 3 years ago. The main reasons were school and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Active local events and festivals
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are manageable, gas is improving.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Hope this helps!.
