We have two kids and Median household income is $99,602, which feels pretty solid for the area. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Should I be concerned? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a contractor who relocated here from San Francisco about 2 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Active local events and festivals
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are pricey, gas is excellent.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. No regrets on my end..
