Raising a family in Bixby -thoughts?

Anyone else feel this way? Homes are going for about $298,200 on average. The median home value here is around $298,200, which seems about average. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Should I be concerned?

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Lakewood) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Baltimore, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.

I've been here 12 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the Pine Hills side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely average and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Downtown) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Pittsburgh, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. I have mixed feelings honestly. Compared to Dallas it's decent.

I'm a software engineer and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The community is average and there's always something going on.

I work in retail here and I genuinely enjoy living here. The job market for my field is decent. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
