So, Born and raised here. The unemployment rate is 6.9%, which is concerning. Median household income is $69,091, which feels about average for the area. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The weather takes some getting used to. Does this match your experience?

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value housing market, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely better than expected and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Westside) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Dallas, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Chicago about 7 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are wild, gas is challenging.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because it's been a really good experience overall. The school system is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I've lived in Uptown for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Strong job market in several industries
- The nightlife scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Can feel isolated

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for young professionals. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
