Raising a family in Blackhawk -thoughts?

Curious what people think. With a population of 10,404, Blackhawk is a small town. Am I wrong here?

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely decent and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (Springfield) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from New York, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

We moved here with our family and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Schools in West area are challenging. Kids love it here.
