The good and bad of living in Blacklick Estates

I'm originally from Salt Lake City and Homes are going for about $152,000 on average. The unemployment rate is 3.9%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $152,000, which is actually reasonable. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Great weather
- Nice parks and trails
- Low crime in most areas
- Good healthcare facilities

Cons:
- Hot summers
- Not very walkable
- Homelessness issues downtown
Is this normal for Blacklick Estates? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 15 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it was the best decision I ever made. Compared to New York it's underrated.
