Bladensburg job market vs St. Louis

Hi all, My family moved here when I was a kid. The median home value here is around $330,400, which seems about average. Median household income is $62,400, which feels about average for the area. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The weather takes some getting used to. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 8 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Pine Hills side vs the Old Town side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from San Diego about 2 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Road conditions need improvement

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are developing, gas is average.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Good luck with whatever you decide..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Internet is average in most areas.

Public transit is decent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want pet-friendliness, then yeah this place is great. But if outdoor recreation matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 8 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.
