Housing in Bladensburg compared to Orlando

Hi all, My family moved here when I was a kid. Homes are going for about $330,400 on average. Poverty rate is 8.0%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $1,652/month for a decent place. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Would love some local perspective. The weather takes some getting used to. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

I've lived in The Heights for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good schools in most areas
- The nightlife scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Road conditions need improvement

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for remote workers. No regrets on my end..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 13 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the Maple Ridge side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Feel free to reach out with questions..
