Best industries in Bloomingdale right now

I grew up here but left for a while. You can expect to pay around $1,607 for rent here. Household incomes average around $98,891 in Bloomingdale. Rent is about $1,607/month for a decent place. The median home value here is around $363,100, which seems about average. With a population of 22,388, Bloomingdale is a small town. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's been a really good experience overall. Internet is better than expected in most areas.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely hit or miss and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Cedar Grove) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Denver, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Used to live on the Pine Hills side, now on the Sunset side. Completely different vibe. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

If you value public transit, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely improving and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Fairview) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Baltimore, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The cost of living is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I've lived in Springfield for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Salt Lake City, I was surprised by cultural scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Lots of new development happening
- Good internet infrastructure
- The housing market scene is average

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Can feel isolated

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for couples. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 13 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

As someone who grew up here, I have mixed feelings honestly. A lot has changed in the past few years though. job market used to be much growing but now it's improving.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a project manager, 32, moved here 10 years ago from Phoenix. I've lived in East and Riverside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Good schools in most areas
3. Good internet infrastructure
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The school system situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- East: Great for remote workers. tough vibes, walkable.
- Riverside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Phoenix, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $40K-$130K here.

**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Cedar Grove) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Good luck with whatever you decide..
