Dog-friendly places in Bloomington?

My family moved here when I was a kid. It's a a smaller city city with about 78,703 people. The median home value here is around $198,800, which is actually reasonable. Average temperature is around 54--F, so expect cold winters. Household incomes average around $75,449 in Bloomington. Poverty rate is 8.2%, which is pretty low. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Anyone in a similar situation? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in The Heights for 14 years. Moved from Portland for school. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is average. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
consulting is strong here. healthcare is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are pricey for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it exceeded my expectations. The outdoor scene is improving - we have hiking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. The Heights schools are underrated. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Dating scene is rough. Far from beaches/mountains. And job market can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are decent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
