Is Bloomington walkable?

Military spouse here. Median household income is $75,449, which feels about average for the area. Rent is about $1,004/month for a decent place. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Weather-wise, the summers are improving and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from Charlotte about 9 years ago. The main reasons were family and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Active local events and festivals
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Homeless population growing downtown
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are competitive, gas is tough.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Hope this helps!.

Bought a house here in 2020 and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Property values have gone down slightly since then.
