Hi all, My family moved here when I was a kid. Homes are going for about $346,200 on average. With a population of 88,838, Bloomington is a smaller city. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Has anyone dealt with this? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The food scene here is surprisingly good. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Used to live on the Downtown side, now on the Uptown side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Sunset. It's solid for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in education you might struggle.
People: Generally improving. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I work in real estate here and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The job market for my field is pretty good. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
