From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are tough, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value traffic, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely decent and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Highland) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from New York, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Not a lot of cultural diversity.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I work in hospitality here and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The job market for my field is solid. Definitely worth checking out..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a accountant who relocated here from San Francisco about 10 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good airport with direct flights
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are developing, gas is excellent.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 1 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it exceeded my expectations. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Dallas about 4 years ago. The main reasons were work and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Four distinct seasons
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Road conditions need improvement

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are wild, gas is challenging.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Bought a house here in 2016 and the quality of life is solid. Property values have gone up a bit since then.
